Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati is a partnership housing program in the truest sense of the word. Applicants must demonstrate a need for housing, ability to pay back a mortgage estimated at $700 per month (including taxes and insurance) and be willing to partner with Habitat in the building and buying of their home.

Every Habitat homebuyer contributes sweat equity hours toward buying their Habitat home. Those hours can be completed through financial coaching, homebuyer education, the lending process, and through construction on a renovated or newly-built Habitat home or other volunteer opportunities.

Our staff is prepared to work with households at various levels of preparedness for homeownership. We encourage anyone who fits in our eligibility criteria to find out if buying with Habitat might be right for you. Even if you might not be ready for Habitat's homeownership program, we can refer you to another organization in our referral partner network, some of which have specific geographic or community focuses.

We acquire existing properties in the greater Charlotte region, in many cases by buying back Habitat-built homes from their original owners. Our construction team goes through the home, provides any needed updates and cosmetic repairs, and then makes these properties available through our Open Market Homes program.

Once you become mortgage ready and are prequalified, your Counselor will help you navigate the process to purchase a home where you want to live, based on your affordability. Options may include purchasing a home on the open market, or buying a Dallas Habitat home, based on our available inventory and what you can afford.

If you experience issues with the online application through the community, send us an email to homeownersupport@dallas-habitat.org with your first and last name and the best way that we can reach you within 48 hours.

Habitat for Humanity provides a unique opportunity for families with low and moderate incomes to buy their own homes. Our houses are sold below market value to families who qualify for a monthly housing payment that is no more than 30% of their monthly income. We work alongside the families we serve to provide them with the knowledge and tools they need to become successful homeowners, and we offer support and guidance through every step of the homebuying process. To become a homeowner, applicants must demonstrate housing need, meet income and credit requirements, have a manageable level of debt, and spend time building their home alongside our construction team and volunteers.

Liketha Martin said she had good credit before buying a Habitat home. Pregnancy complications forced her to go on bed rest, so she couldn't work or make mortgage payments on her home in Fort Myers. She was about six months behind, she said, when Habitat first sued for foreclosure in 2004, three years after she bought the home.

Since Habitat builds homes with affordability in mind, Habitat homeowners have more limited choices about their homes than someone buying from a traditional homebuilder. While Habitat homeowners are able to choose things like the exterior paint color of the home, the homeowner will have limited choices about things such as the location of the home or the number of bedrooms and bathrooms inside the home.
