These grants are awarded only to state historical records advisory boards in each state, or to the state agency responsible for the state board, ordinarily the state archives. Another state agency, or a non-profit organization, such as a foundation or university, acting on behalf of the designated state agency may apply. States also include the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and United States territories.

The Commission will focus its support on state board strategic planning that will identify the historical records needs of the state and develop programming to address those needs, and on programming that will help to enhance online access to records, increase public understanding and use of archives, or advance the capabilities of organizations in underserved communities.

The Commission will focus its support on state board activities that will result in enhanced online access to records, increased public understanding and use of archives, or collaborative approaches to statewide services or problem solving among multiple repositories or parties. The Commission may fund a variety of board activities that result in these outcomes. Active state boards that submit less-competitive applications may be awarded grants that provide funding for a minimal level of programming so that they may continue to function at a basic level.

Grant funds may be requested to fund a portion of the administrative expenses necessary for planning and carrying out these activities. These expenses may include board meeting travel or teleconference costs, personnel to administer programming, CoSA dues or travel to a meeting of a national archival organization, and similar expenses. These expenses must not exceed 25% of the total amount requested and must be strongly justified and explained in detail.

Graduate programs in Archival Studies provide students the training and understanding they need to excel in their professional duties. These programs have a higher duty as well: to keep archives relevant. In addition to maintaining technical competence, archivists in the future will have increasing responsibility to engage and educate the public, to diversify the historical record and the profession, to solve problems and use archival materials creatively, to perform in the digital realm, to advocate for the profession, and to enhance the public good. Keeping archives relevant requires graduate programs to prepare archivists to operate in these expanding fields.

Archivaria, the journal of the Association of Canadian Archivists (ACA), is devoted to the scholarly investigation of archives in Canada and internationally. Articles and other submissions are welcomed which explore the history, nature, and theory of archives and the use of archives. The journal aims to be a bridge of communication among archivists, and between archivists and users of archives.

The Master's in Library and Information Science with Archives Management Concentration is a 36-credit program that imparts the concepts and competencies needed for archival positions in a variety of settings. Students may complete the master of science degree program in library and information science fully online. Students may choose the DYO (Design Your Own) option, and customize their degree program to reflect their professional goals. Or, they may choose to concentrate their studies in archives management or information science and technology.

By studying how records are selected for preservation, arranged and described, and made accessible to the public, archives students have a unique opportunity to research a field that mixes history, ethics, technology and philosophy. Through this study, you are able to research the influences that help determine how society views itself.

The MLIS archival studies program provides a range of professional development opportunities, as well as alumni and other professional connections around the country in order to ensure that you are competitive in the job market and have a well-rounded view of the complex issues facing archives. Completion of this program provides you with a graduate degree that will help you gain employment at a variety of archives throughout the United States.

Before declaring the MLIS archival studies concentration, we recommend that you take INFOST 650 An Introduction to Modern Archives Administration. INFOST 650 is the prerequisite for most archives courses. This class is offered online every semester provided there is sufficient enrollment. We offer the onsite version of it every Spring semester. INFOST 650 provides an overview of the field and will give you a sense of whether or not you wish to pursue this career track.

Alternative Summer Break (ASB) is a noncredit, volunteer career development program that places interested and motivated online and onsite MLIS and CAS students in archives during any two weeks over summer break. Students are placed in archives where they gain hands-on experience and network with professionals. Participation requires that students commit to volunteering 60 hours over two sequential weeks during the summer semester. Students are responsible for their own travel, food and accommodations.

The Exoplanet Archive data are accessed primarily through a web interface, but users who have some programming knowledge may write scripts that automate specific search queries. These queries must follow a structure that is compatible with the Exoplanet Archive's application programming interface (API). This page provides information on using the API to automate data retrieval.

Originally I compiled a couple of programming collections from some well-known sites such as Comptrain and Aerobic Capacity. I noticed that unfortunately these threads get lost in time on Reddit. I wanted to make a completely free and comfortable alternative to these threads. The result is here. I will start off with the oldies which have already been published, but this page will contain all other resources for programming. 041b061a72
